CNN Politics put aside—for the occasion at least—and said some very nice things about the Republican tax cuts and their effect on all Americans. It was an unusual but welcome display of objective reporting, even if was not entirely devoid of subtle barbs at the rich.
It was great to see CNN announce in big letters: Winning: Most US Taxpayers. More specifically, The vast majority of American tax filers — more than 65% — will see their overall tax burden decrease by at least $100…” Do you hear that Liberal world, Bernie, Alexandria? “The vast majority” of Americans! “More than 65%”!
“Most US Taxpayers. More specifically, The vast majority of American tax filers — more than 65% — will see their overall tax burden decrease by at least $100…”
CNN correctly points that these tax cuts are not permanent and will expire in 2025. Let me upfront about this. I would like these tax cuts to be permanent. They are for the corporations, why not for every hard-working, tax-paying American?
Since it’s CNN one would expect a barb at the rich to be obligatory: “The new tax law’s benefits are tilted toward the wealthy, who will generally see greater benefits than other Americans.”
Correct, but these are “the people who pay the most in tax.” To be exact, the top 20% of income earners pay 87% of all taxes (per WSJ); and they are the ones who create the jobs and the wealth that is driving this economy to enviable heights.
