Although it remains to be determined how much Iran was involved in the planning and execution of the recent attacks on Saudi oil facilities, there is no question that its fingerprints are all over it.
The sophisticated drones launched in the attack, 500 miles from Yemeni territory, are of Iranian provenance. It is common knowledge that for years Iran has been arming the Yemeni Houthi rebels.
President Trump—who according to some reports had been considering easing sanctions and even meeting with president Rouhani of Iran—may now feel compelled to respond militarily to such a brazen act of aggression.
Iran has denied any involvement in the attacks; but by arming the Houthis with such devastating weaponry, it is impossible to absolve it of complicity and responsibility for what transpired in Saudi Arabia.
