The exchanges between Nancy Pelosi and Ocasio Cortez seem to be getting more bitter and acrimonious. The thin veneer of civility is wearing off, and Nancy seems to be realizing that the left fringe (aka, the “progressives”) is willing not only to openly defy her but are intent on wresting control of the party from the moderates willing to stay in this sinking ship.
The open-borders, socialist wing led by Ocasio Cortez and Rashida Tlaib are taking off their gloves and showing little respect for the House Speaker. The call to “focus on [McConnell] instead of bashing progressives” and “uplift the women, especially the women of color” from Tlaib implicitly suggests that Pelosi is betraying the progressive agenda, and more damaging and hurtful, undermining the cause of women and minorities.
In boxing terms, this could be considered a low blow, but this is something that Pelosi and other moderates are going to have to learn to live with it as the radicals of the party become bolder and less restrained in going after anyone who is open to compromise with evil (i.e. the Republicans and the president), even on something so necessary as border security.

On the other hand, Pelosi is hardly a political slouch, and she seems willing to “slug it” out with the upstarts. “All these people have their public whatever…” “Whatever”? I can’t remember a time when such a meaningless expression packed so much condescension and contempt. “They are four people and that’s how many votes they got.”
What caught my attention in AOC’s reply to Nancy was the phrase “… wielding the power to shift [public sentiment].” “My four million followers on Twitter may one day become twenty or forty million, and that is how I am going to shift public opinion, which translates into power to transform the party,” I hear AOC thinking.
Something big is brewing in the Democratic party, and that is what has Pelosi worried and on the defensive. Yes, they are four people, but they are dynamic, in your face, ideological driven, visionaries that believe that they can transform the Democratic party into a full-blown socialist party.
A party not socialist in the Scandinavian sense—with their hybrid economies and comfortable relationship with corporations—but socialist in the sense that it will not stop until the American capitalist system is completely dismantled.
If there is really a Zombie apocalypse folks, this is it. Pelosi I believe sees this coming, and that is why she is doing her best to prevent the disaster that will surely come upon the Democratic party if the four women of the apocalypse have their way.
